During their several-day visit to Latvia, the delegation met with representatives of public authorities and sectoral organisations to learn about approaches to nature conservation, forestry and rural area management in Latvia.
During the visit to the Nature Conservation Agency, Andris Širovs introduced the delegation to the Agency’s responsibilities, areas of work and experience in nature conservation in Latvia. Agnese Rudusāne, representing the LatViaNature project, presented the project’s main activities and achievements to date.
Following the presentations, the delegation took part in an educational walk through Gauja National Park, guided by LatViaNature experts Sandra Ikauniece and Maija Medne. During the visit, the guests learned about the ‘Blooming Meadows’ pilot programme, forest habitats, and nature conservation and management practices in Gauja National Park.
